Welcome from the Vice-Principal
When I first joined the British School of Córdoba, I was immediately impressed by the students I encountered every day. It quickly became clear to me that it is the students who make our school what it is today—a vibrant community of learners, teachers, and parents working together with the shared belief that an outstanding education is essential for the well-being and success of every individual.
The Secondary School plays a key role in this educational journey, and it is with great pride that I welcome you to our school. Our objective is to build on the values ingrained in our students at home and in our Primary department, encouraging them to live and demonstrate those values as they grow and develop under our guidance and care. We foster independence, curiosity, and a love for learning, helping our students to cultivate a wide range of interests while developing strong skills in analysis and evaluation. By enhancing their critical, analytical, and rational thinking, we aim to prepare them for higher education and the challenges of the working world with confidence and success.
Our role is to help each student become the best version of themselves, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for their future. We understand that each student's path to success is unique, and we are committed to accompanying them closely on the journey they choose to follow.
Our curriculum reflects this commitment, starting in Year 7 (age 11) with the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, and French. These are complemented by a range of optional subjects such as Geography, History, Business Studies, and Computer Science, all with the ultimate aim of preparing students for the internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE examinations, which are externally assessed at the end of Year 11 (age 16). Alongside the British Curriculum, students also study the Spanish Curriculum, ensuring a broad and balanced education. Creative expression is nurtured through subjects like Art, Music, and Drama, while our Physical Education programme and extra-curricular activities promote health and well-being.
This comprehensive curriculum more than satisfies the convalidation requirements of ESO. Above all, it more than adequately prepares them to further their international education with us, either with the International Baccalaureate (IB) or International A-Levels.
At the British School of Córdoba, we believe that education is more than just academics; it's about nurturing well-rounded, confident, and compassionate individuals. We are excited to be part of your child’s journey, supporting them every step of the way as they discover their passions, challenge themselves and grow into the leaders of tomorrow. We warmly invite you to explore all that our school has to offer and to join our vibrant community, where every student’s potential is celebrated and cultivated.

British Secondary Curriculum
The British Secondary is organized into two stages, which are called Key Stages. In key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) pupils follow a broad and balanced curriculum which includes the core subjects; Math, English and Science. In Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) pupils study towards IGCSE external exams and specialise by choosing subjects options, while continuing with the common subjects.
The IGCSE course lasts for two years with the majority of pupils successfully passing up to eight IGCSE’s including first language English, mathematics and coordinated science.
At the end of KS4, students receive a dual qualification in Secondary: the British (if they pass a minimum of 4 IGCSEs) and Spanish (provided they also pass Lengua Castellana and Geografía e Historia from Years 8 to 11)
